EU Investigates Qualcomm's Alleged Antitrust Abuses

Law360, New York (October 01, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- The European Commission has taken aim at telecommunications company Qualcomm Inc., opening formal antitrust proceedings against the chipset maker after receiving complaints from several of the company's rivals.

The EC said on Monday that it had initiated proceedings against Qualcomm at the behest of Ericsson, Nokia, Texas Instruments, Broadcom, NEC and Panasonic, all of which complained that Qualcomm's licensing terms constituted a violation of EC competition policy.
