Calif. Appeals Court OKs Shot Cop's Suit Against Glock

Law360, New York (July 25, 2012, 7:23 PM EDT) -- A California appeals court ruled Tuesday that a police officer who was shot by his 3-year-old son and partially paralyzed can sue gun manufacturer Glock Inc. for his weapon’s alleged design defects, overturning a lower court's dismissal of the lawsuit.

The appeals court said Glock and the Los Angeles Police Revolver and Athletic Club, another defendant, failed to carry their burden of showing the officer could not prove the gun’s lack of a grip safety or the light trigger pull caused his injury.
