Ex-LA Times Publisher's Defamation Claim Lives In $13M Suit

Law360, Los Angeles (July 25, 2012, 4:51 PM EDT) -- A California judge on Wednesday permitted a former Los Angeles Times Magazine publisher to pursue defamation claims in his $13 million wrongful termination lawsuit alleging he was fired for criticizing a decision to stop distributing the magazine to poor and minority neighborhoods.

Judge Barbara Scheper shot down a bid to trim Steve Gellman's complaint against the Los Angeles Times Newspapers Inc., its parent company Tribune Co. and executive Scott Pompe, court officials said.
