Amedisys Stiffed Home-Health Workers On OT, Nurses Say

Law360, New York (July 27, 2012, 5:18 PM ET) -- Former home-health workers hit Amedisys Inc. with a proposed class action in Connecticut federal court Thursday, accusing the home-health and hospice care giant of misclassifying them as exempt from overtime pay and other wage violations.

The suit, brought by former Amedisys nurses Julie Cook, Scott Tomkins and Joseph G. Husk, says the company willfully violated the Fair Labor Standards Act by paying its home-health workers based on a point system and not actual hours worked, and refused to pay them overtime.
