Calif. Rolls Out Expansive Rules For Greener Products

Law360, San Diego (July 27, 2012, 9:21 PM EDT) -- The California Department of Toxic Substances Control on Friday unveiled sweeping draft rules to implement its Green Chemistry Initiative, which would require manufacturers that sell products containing chemicals harmful to consumers’ health and the environment to look for greener ingredients.

The agency issued the proposed Safer Consumer Products Regulations, which would establish a process for manufacturers to examine whether they can use safer alternatives to ingredients identified by the DTSC as "chemicals of concern."
