Centinela Workers Can't Nab Quick Win In OT Pay Case

Law360, Los Angeles (July 30, 2012, 5:03 PM EDT) -- A California judge refused Monday to find that Prime Healthcare Centinela LLC violated state labor code by compensating 1,400 employees at an Inglewood, Calif., hospital under a differential pay system, saying the plaintiffs' motion wouldn't dispose of the entire case.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Rita Miller denied a motion by plaintiffs Michael Fenison, Monique Hemphill and Jacob Marhefky seeking summary adjudication of key legal questions in the wage-and-hour suit, declining to find that Centinela Hospital Medical Center's pay system violated California overtime requirements.
