Microsoft Wants Cease-Fire In Motorola Patent Battle

Law360, New York (July 31, 2012, 2:16 PM EDT) -- Microsoft Corp. on Tuesday called for "patent peace" in ongoing litigation with Motorola Mobility Inc. over Android-based mobile technology and the Xbox video game system, saying that it was open to a comprehensive settlement of the pending cases in the U.S. and abroad.

In a company blog post Tuesday, Microsoft general counsel Brad Smith and deputy general counsel Horacio Gutierrez said that the company was seeking a durable agreement with Google Inc.'s Motorola unit that provided reasonable royalty rates for its patented technology.
