7th Circ. Says Links Don't Infringe Porn Co.'s Copyrights

Law360, New York (August 2, 2012, 5:59 PM EDT) -- The Seventh Circuit found Thursday that websites merely providing a link to copyrighted content could not be held liable for contributory infringement, overturning an injunction barring video-linking website myVidster.com from hosting videos by pornography producer Flava Works Inc.

In a unanimous decision, the appeals court vacated an Illinois federal court’s preliminary injunction order against myVidster, saying that unless viewers copied the videos they watched on infringer's websites, myVidster’s linking services were not increasing the amount of infringement.
