Union Rips ITC For Lifting Duties On Indonesian Paper

Law360, New York (August 3, 2012, 3:16 PM EDT) -- Labor union United Steelworkers said Friday that the U.S. International Trade Commission's decision this week to drop duties on lined paper from Indonesia could threaten both American jobs and the Indonesian environment.

The union praised the commission's decision, announced Thursday, to leave similar countervailing and dumping duties in place on paper from China and India, but said the vote to remove the duties on Indonesian goods would allow the country's paper companies to use environmentally dubious practices to undercut American rivals.
