DOD, State Lag In War Zone Contract Reforms, GAO Says

Law360, New York (August 3, 2012, 8:07 PM EDT) -- The U.S. departments of State and Defense lag in implementing wartime contracting reforms recommended by a bipartisan congressional commission, leaving some contracts vulnerable to fraud and waste, the U.S. Government Accountability Office reported Wednesday.

The DOD has taken steps to implement about half of the recommendations made by the Commission on Wartime Contracting, and the State Department and U.S. Agency for International Development have moved to implement about one-third, the GAO said.
