Reps. Float OT Exemption To Speed Up Disaster Claims

Law360, New York (August 7, 2012, 3:32 PM EDT) -- Three congressmen on Thursday unveiled bipartisan legislation that would suspend for up to two years overtime pay for insurance adjusters working to process claims stemming from natural disasters such as hurricanes or tornadoes.

Rep. Denny Rehberg, R-Mont., along with Reps. Jo Bonner, R-Ala., and Alcee Hastings, D-Fl., introduced H.R. 6346, which seeks to amend the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 to provide a specific limited exemption from the overtime pay requirements for work related to insurance claims adjustment after a major disaster.
