DreamWorks JV Plans $3.1B China Entertainment Complex

Law360, New York (August 7, 2012, 3:23 PM EDT) -- A China-based joint venture helmed by DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. is planning on opening a 20 billion yuan ($3.1 billion) entertainment complex in Shanghai, as the company aims to boost its animation brand and presence in the country, it announced Monday.

Dubbed Dream Center, the project complements a state initiative to turn the Shanghai Xuhui area into a cultural hot spot and will include theaters, restaurants, commercial facilities and major tourist attractions, according to a statement issued by DreamWorks.
