Thai Co. Tops Heineken With $830M Bid For Asian Brewer

Law360, New York (August 7, 2012, 2:21 PM EDT) -- A Thai company leveled an unsolicited SG$1 billion (US$830 million) offer for a stake in Singapore-based Fraser & Neave Ltd.'s beer-maker subsidiary Asia Pacific Breweries Ltd., F&N said Tuesday, a move that could threaten Heineken NV's previously approved bid for control.

The $55-per-share proposal lobbed by Kindest Place Groups Ltd., a company run by the son-in-law of Thai billionaire Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi, for a 7.3 percent interest in the brewer bests Heineken's offered per-share price by a full 10 percent.
