Blackwater Agrees To $8M Fine For Arms Violations

Law360, New York (August 7, 2012, 10:18 PM EDT) -- Academi LLC, the military contractor formerly known as Blackwater Worldwide Inc., on Tuesday agreed to pay $7.5 million to settle federal prosecutors' allegations that the company had violated sanctions on selling arms to Sudan and illegally possessed automatic weapons.

In a deferred prosecution agreement filed in the Eastern District of North Carolina, Academi accepted responsibility for the arms sales violations and agreed to a $7.5 million penalty.
