Varicose Vein Laser Patent Suit Heads To Trial

Law360, New York (October 5, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A judge ruled Tuesday that a patent suit brought by Vnus Medical Technologies Inc. against three rival companies over a laser treatment for varicose veins can head to trial, denying two cross-motions for summary judgment and partly deferring one motion by the defendants.

The suit, filed in 2005, accused Diomed Holdings Inc., Angiodynamics Inc. and Vascular Solutions Inc. of selling products that induced users to infringe Vnus patents on a process for delivering energy to body cavities, such as veins.
