DOL Targets SoCal Garment Industry Over FLSA Concerns

Law360, New York (August 10, 2012, 8:36 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Labor said Thursday that it had launched a multiyear enforcement initiative targeting the garment industry in Southern California, looking to tackle what the DOL called consistent and widespread violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

The DOL's Wage and Hour Division kicked off the enforcement efforts in the fashion district in downtown Los Angeles, and investigations will spread through Los Angeles and Orange counties in the coming weeks, the agency said in its newsletter.
