Trade Group Rips Congressional Probe Of Marketing Data Cos.

Law360, New York (August 13, 2012, 7:37 PM EDT) -- The Direct Marketing Association on Monday fired back at members of Congress who have questioned nine data brokers, including Equifax Inc., about their business and privacy practices, saying the inquiry could stifle growth and innovation.

In a letter responding to the bipartisan probe, the trade association defended the collection, assembly and sale of individuals' information to third parties by Equifax, Acxiom Corp., Epsilon Data Management LLC, Experian Information Solutions Inc., Harte-Hanks Inc., Intelius Inc., Fair Isaac Corp., Merkle Inc. and Meredith Corp.
