Transportation Cos. Can Contest Liability In Metro Crash Case

Law360, New York (August 16, 2012, 2:30 PM EDT) -- A federal judge on Tuesday said corporate defendants in a lawsuit over a fatal June 2009 Washington, D.C., Metro train crash can contest their liability, a blow to the plaintiffs who had argued the transportation businesses already had admitted they were liable.

Victims of the crash, their families and the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority are seeking compensation from companies involved in the operation of the train system, Alstom Signaling Inc., Ansaldo STS USA Inc. and Arinc Inc., for their alleged role in the crash. But...
