China Wants Full WTO Case Over US Countervailing Duties

Law360, New York (August 23, 2012, 2:44 PM EDT) -- China will ask the World Trade Organization to launch a full dispute resolution proceeding over its allegations that the U.S. improperly applies countervailing duties to $7.3 billion worth of Chinese products, according WTO documents filed Tuesday.

The WTO's dispute resolution body said China will request the establishment of a panel to adjudicate the issue at the group's next scheduled meeting on Aug. 31, moving the row over 22 separate American duties past the preliminary round of direct consultations.
