CMS Releases Final Stage 2 Rule On Health E-Records

Law360, New York (August 23, 2012, 7:35 PM EDT) -- The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on Thursday released the final rule laying out the Stage 2 meaningful use requirements for electronic health records, six months after the proposed rule prompted outcry from doctors and hospitals.

Under the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health, or HITECH, Act, most health care providers are required to switch to electronic record-keeping over the next several years.
