GAO Again Tells DOJ To Nix Smart Card ID Contract

Law360, New York (August 28, 2012, 2:48 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Government Accountability Office has for the second time advised the U.S. Department of Justice to re-examine its awarding a $500,000 contract for smart card identification services to LS3 Inc., according to a decision published Friday.

The ruling, dated Aug. 14 and published by the GAO Aug. 24, sided with protester NikSoft Systems Corp., which won a bid protest in March alleging its proposal for the contract to supply federal employees with personal identification and access cards was less expensive.
