UK Removes DMAA Weight-Loss Supplements From Market

Law360, New York (August 28, 2012, 6:42 PM EDT) -- A U.K. regulator imposed a ban Tuesday on exercise and other supplements containing DMAA, a compound linked to shortness of breath and heart attacks that has also been targeted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency, or MHRA, ordered the removal of all products containing DMAA from the market, citing safety concerns. The announcement came after the agency ruled Jack3D, which contains the compound and is made by USP Labs LLC, is an unlicensed medicinal product.
