Patent Bid Change Doesn't Nix Patent Claims, Fed. Circ. Says

Law360, New York (August 28, 2012, 8:20 PM EDT) -- The Federal Circuit on Tuesday blocked DeAngelo Marine Exhaust Inc.'s request to overturn a jury's verdict that the company infringed a rival's marine exhaust system patents, ruling an amendment in the patent application process doesn't necessarily constitute an admission that a claim is unpatentable.

The underlying suit centers on allegations by Marine Exhaust Systems Inc. and inventor Woodrow Woods that DeAngelo copied their designs for water jacketed marine exhaust systems, which cool exhaust as it exits the engine of a marine vessel, according to the opinion....
