14 Window Marketers Get FTC Warnings On Energy Claims

Law360, New York (August 29, 2012, 4:13 PM EDT) -- The Federal Trade Commission on Wednesday warned 14 window manufacturers and a window glass manufacturer they may be making unsupported energy savings claims for replacement windows.

The warning letters highlight claims that consumers will save more than 30 percent on their energy or heating and cooling bills by installing replacement windows, the FTC said. The companies were told any energy-savings claims must be backed by scientific evidence and that they should be specific about the type of savings consumers can expect.
