Japanese Co. Cooperates To Exit Freight Antitrust Lawsuit

Law360, New York (August 30, 2012, 3:57 PM EDT) -- Japanese freight forwarder United Aircargo Consolidators Inc. has agreed to extensively cooperate with plaintiffs in exchange for dismissal from a proposed class action accusing shipping companies of colluding to drive up prices, according to a settlement filed Wednesday.

United Aircargo, one of the smallest companies involved in the case, will also pay $295,000 to resolve the claims that it participated in a conspiracy to artificially prop up the prices for freight forwarding — the intermediate management of shipping between the sender and receiver.
