Pa. Tightens Time Limits On Environmental Permit Reviews

Law360, Philadelphia (August 30, 2012, 5:48 PM EDT) -- Complying with an executive order issued by Pa. Gov. Tom Corbett in July, Pennsylvania's Department of Environmental Protection Thursday issued new permit decision policies intended to set timetables for the department in its responses to environmental permit applications.

While the proposal has faced criticism from some environmental groups who say imposing timetables could lead to rushed permit reviews by department employees, DEP officials stress that the new policy is intended to guide applicants as much as it’s intended to guide internal procedures.
