Apple IPhone, IPad Violate Compression Patent, Suit Says

Law360, New York (August 30, 2012, 5:38 PM EDT) -- A Delaware-based patent trust set up by Alcatel-Lucent USA Inc. sued Apple Inc. in California on Wednesday, alleging the electronics giant's iPhone and iPad products infringed a patent covering video compression technology.

In a complaint filed in California federal court, Multimedia Patent Trust claimed Apple had manufactured, marketed and sold iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and a "new" iPad that incorporated technology covered by MPT’s video compression patent.
