Starbucks Baristas Ask 2nd Circ. To Reheat Tip-Sharing Suit

Law360, New York (August 30, 2012, 7:04 PM EDT) -- A group of Starbucks Corp. baristas on Thursday asked the Second Circuit to reopen a class action in which they claim the coffee chain violates labor law by forcing front-end workers to share tips with their supervisors.

Starbucks baristas, the lowest-level employees, should not be forced to pool their tips with shift supervisors who manage some of their work, lawyer Shannon Liss-Riordan of Lichten & Liss-Riordan PC told the appeals court at oral arguments.
