Duane Reade Employees Want Class Certification

Law360, New York (October 15, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Assistant managers of Duane Reade Inc. have asked to be certified as a class that could include hundreds of workers who accuse the drugstore of misclassifying their job positions and cheating them out of overtime pay.

Eleven former and current assistant managers, whose two lawsuits are coordinated for classification purposes, claimed in court documents filed Friday that Duane Reade's policy of denying them overtime compensation is uniform and that their cases therefore deserve to be switched from collective actions to class actions.
