First-Sale Rule Applies Only To US, High Court Told

Law360, New York (September 5, 2012, 8:46 PM EDT) -- Textbook publisher John Wiley & Sons Inc. told the U.S. Supreme Court Friday that the first-sale doctrine in copyright law does not apply to copies made outside the U.S., urging the court to reject the arguments of a man appealing a ruling that he infringed by reselling foreign textbooks.
