UK's Antitrust Cop Begins Study Of £32B Fuel Market

Law360, New York (September 5, 2012, 3:46 PM EDT) -- The U.K.'s Office of Fair Trading said Wednesday that it is collecting information on the £32 billion ($51 billion) British retail gasoline and diesel markets to determine if there are structural or other problems that are creating competition problems.

"We are keenly aware of continuing widespread concern about the pump price of petrol and diesel and we have heard a number of different claims about how the market is operating," said Claire Hart, a director in the OFT's Services, Infrastructure & Public Markets Group.
