Texas Targets State Farm In Criminal Hurricane Ike Probe

Law360, New York (September 10, 2012, 3:11 PM ET) -- State Farm Lloyds Inc. is facing a criminal probe in Texas focused on information the carrier handed to state insurance regulators describing its handling of Hurricane Ike claims, an official in the Travis County District Attorneys' Office told Law360 on Monday.

The insurer already is defending its response to Hurricane Ike in more than 260 lawsuits claiming it unfairly adjusted property damage claims stemming from the September 2008 hurricane, the third costliest hurricane in U.S. history, according to the Insurance Information Institute.
