Law360, New York (October 17, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- Parts of one of the largest ongoing intellectual property battles were split from the main suit to be assigned a new case number and federal judge, as the current judge, U.S. District Judge Rudi Brewster, makes plans to retire.
Brewster is presiding over several long-running patent disputes between Alcatel-Lucent, Microsoft Corp., Dell Inc. and Gateway Inc. over a series of patent –including ones related to MP3s and video coding.
According to court documents, the eleven patents in the various lawsuits were divided into five different groups....
