Hospital Groups Urge Reps. To Reject Medicare Payment Cap

Law360, New York (September 13, 2012, 4:41 PM EDT) -- The American Hospital Association and four other advocacy groups on Wednesday urged Congress to reject a proposed policy capping Medicare payment rates to hospitals for certain outpatient services, saying the move would result in reduced access to care for Medicare patients.

According to the AHA's letter, under the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission proposal — part of an annual report to Congress released in March — doctors would continue to receive their standard Medicare fee for outpatient evaluation and management services, but hospitals would see a reduction...
