Comcast, Verizon Sued Over Video On Demand

Law360, New York (October 18, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Time Warner Cable Inc., Comcast Corp., Verizon Communications Inc. and Charter Communications Inc. were hit with a patent suit on Wednesday accusing them of infringing two patents related to on-demand viewing technology.

VTran Media Technologies LLC filed the lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, seeking unspecified monetary damages and a permanent injunction.

At issue in the lawsuit are U.S. Patent Numbers 4,890,320 and 4,995,078—both titled “Television broadcast system for selective transmission of viewer-chosen programs at viewer-requested times.”
