Judge Tosses Suit Alleging Hitachi Made Defective TVs

Law360, New York (September 17, 2012, 1:10 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Thursday approved a joint request by consumers and Hitachi America Ltd. to toss consolidated litigation alleging the electronics giant sold defective televisions in violation of consumer protection laws.

U.S. District Judge Dana M. Sabraw’s order to dismiss with prejudice covers nine proposed class actions — some of which were filed in New York and Illinois before being transferred to California — brought against Hitachi and its home electronics affiliates starting in 2008.
