EPA Raises Bar On Biodiesel Requirements

Law360, New York (September 14, 2012, 6:32 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Friday hiked its alternative diesel fuel mandate for 2013 by more than a quarter, raising the total volume of biodiesel required in U.S. diesel fuel markets to 1.28 billion gallons.

The EPA said the new volume, which the agency is required to set under the Energy Independence and Security Act, marked a “moderate” increase over the 1 billion-gallon statutory minimum set by Congress for 2012 and beyond.
