Biomet Raises Specter Of New Suits To Fight Hip-Implant MDL

Law360, New York (September 20, 2012, 7:11 PM EDT) -- Biomet Inc. told a federal judicial panel Thursday that suits over its allegedly defective metal-on-metal hip implants should not be consolidated because it would lead to a flood of unmerited litigation, an argument the head panelist deemed valid.

Plaintiffs are petitioning the U.S. Judicial Panel for Multidistrict Litigation to combine suits over Biomet's M2a-Magnum hip implants and similar devices.
