Williams Partners Fights NJ Review Of Pipeline Project

Law360, New York (September 18, 2012, 6:05 PM EDT) -- Williams Partners LP argued to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission on Friday that federal law preempts a review of its gas pipeline project in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania by the New Jersey State Agricultural Development Committee.

The state's Agricultural Retention and Development Act runs counter to the federal Natural Gas Act and applying the law to the expansion and modification of Williams' Transco pipeline would be “an impermissible burden on interstate commerce,” said Michael K.
