Apple, Publishers Offer EU E-Book Antitrust Fixes

Law360, New York (September 19, 2012, 11:58 AM EDT) -- Apple Inc. and four publishers have offered to settle the European Commission's antitrust investigation into e-books pricing by ending their current distribution deals and accepting limitations on future agreements, the regulator said Wednesday.

Along with Apple, Hachette Livre SA, HarperCollins Publishing Inc., Simon & Schuster Inc. and Macmillan Publishers owner Verlagsgruppe Georg von Holtzbrinck have submitted commitments to the European Union antitrust watchdog designed to address the agency's suspicions that the publishers may have coordinated their switch between sales models for e-books with Apple's help....
