Honeywell Sparks LED Fight With Philips, Cree

Law360, New York (October 22, 2007, 12:00 AM ET) -- Industrial powerhouse Honeywell International Inc. has hit lighting companies Philips Lumileds Lighting Co. and Cree Inc. with a lawsuit over a light-emitting diode patent.

Honeywell, along with its intellectual property unit, filed the suit on Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas seeking a permanent injunction from further alleged infringement and trebled damages.

“Philips Lumileds' [and Cree’s] acts constitute direct infringement, inducement to infringe and/or contributory infringement, literally and/or under the doctrine of equivalents,” the lawsuit said.
