Florida Power Gets Green Light To Finish $3B Nuke Expansion

Law360, New York (September 24, 2012, 7:10 PM EDT) -- The Nuclear Regulatory Commission on Monday approved Florida Power & Light Co.’s bid to increase power output at its St. Lucie nuclear plant, allowing the company to move forward with the final of four proposed generator expansions worth some $3 billion.

The commission said it had determined that FPL could safely boost power at St. Lucie Unit 2 from 853 megawatts to 1,002 megawatts, a 17 percent increase.
