FTC Set To Update Dot-Com Disclosure Guide By Year's End

Law360, New York (October 1, 2012, 9:58 PM EDT) -- The Federal Trade Commission will release its updated guidance on how advertisers can craft effective disclosures online and on mobile devices by the end of the year, Commissioner Julie Brill revealed at an advertising industry conference Monday.

The FTC first issued its online advertising disclosure guidelines, known as its “Dot Com Disclosures” guidance document, in 2000, but in May 2011 requested public comment on how the guidance could be modified to reflect new technical and legal issues presented by the rise of mobile marketing and advertising...
