Sanyo, 3M Kill Two Battery Spats With One Deal

Law360, New York (October 24, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- 3M Co. announced Wednesday that it has reached a global settlement and licensing deal with Sanyo Corp., one of the last defendants left in its crusade over its lithium ion battery patents.

The deal, whose terms and dollar figures were kept confidential, puts to rest the parallel actions against Osaka, Japan-based Sanyo which Delaware-based 3M brought in March when it filed complaints against a slew of battery makers in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota and before the International Trade Commission, which agreed...
