Sunoco Shareholders Approve $5.3B ETP Merger

Law360, New York (October 4, 2012, 8:22 PM EDT) -- Energy Transfer Partners LP's potential $5.3 billion takeover of Sunoco Inc. cleared its last major hurdle Thursday when 97 percent of Sunoco shareholders who voted in a special meeting agreed to approve the merger, according to a joint announcement. 

The deal, which was the subject of a shareholder lawsuit pending in Pennsylvania federal court that was settled and dismissed earlier this week, will see ETP absorb Sunoco's natural gas transportation and logistics business and its branded retail operation of 4,900 stores across the country.
