1st US Fuel Refinery In 30 Years OK'd For Bakken Tribal Lands

Law360, New York (October 10, 2012, 7:25 PM EDT) -- The Interior Department on Wednesday approved a key component of a North Dakota Indian nation’s bid to build the first U.S. fuel refinery in some 30 years on an oil-producing hot spot in the Bakken shale.

The agency granted a request by the Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation of the Fort Berthold Reservation to take a 469-acre tract of land into trust, moving them one step closer to constructing the long-planned MHA Nation Clean Fuels Refinery.
