Exxon Knew Of Pipeline Trouble Before Oil Spill, Suit Says

Law360, New York (October 10, 2012, 2:32 PM EDT) -- A group of Montana landowners on Friday sued ExxonMobil Oil Corp., alleging it should have known its Silvertip Pipeline would rupture months before a July 2011 oil spill in Yellowstone River that damaged property, livestock and farming operations.

The 14 plaintiffs own goat farms, ranches, dog training ranches, or hundreds of acres of riverfront or homestead property they claim were extensively damaged by oil deposits and slicks from Exxon’s spill of 63,000 gallons of crude oil in Yellowstone River last year.
