Law360, New York (October 11, 2012, 12:28 PM EDT) -- Japanese telecommunications giant Softbank Corp. is in late-stage talks to buy top U.S. wireless carrier Sprint Nextel Corp., Sprint confirmed Thursday, for a price that reportedly values the target around $12.8 billion in a deal that would be the mobile phone market's second multibillion-dollar acquisition this month.
