White House Order Protects Intelligence Whistleblowers

Law360, New York (October 11, 2012, 7:41 PM EDT) -- President Barack Obama on Wednesday used a presidential order to guarantee whistleblower protections to intelligence community workers who report wasteful or fraudulent spending, using his executive authority to advance a goal that fell short during the recent congressional session.

Whistleblower protection bills had bipartisan support in Congress, and the House of Representatives unanimously passed the Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act during a September pro forma session.
