FTA Gives $942M For San Francisco Light Rail Extension

Law360, New York (October 12, 2012, 5:29 PM EDT) -- The Federal Transit Administration has provided San Francisco with $942.2 million in federal funding to extend the city’s Third Street light rail system through its busy Chinatown neighborhood, the U.S. Department of Transportation announced Thursday.

The so-called T-Third Light Rail extension is part of Phase 2 of the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency’s Central Subway project. The project has been in the works for more than a decade, in conjunction with the San Francisco County Transportation Authority, and is estimated to cost a total $1.6 billion....
